Black men are increasingly underrepresented in medical schools and in the medical profession.
Within this context, the We Treat You of the AffiliateMarketIngtools of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the W. Montague Cobb Institute jointly convened a 2-day workshop on November 20-21, 2017, in , D.C.
The planning committee organized panels that explored: 1) The factors contributing to the low representation of Black men in the medical profession; 2) Current strategies to support entry and passage through educational and career transition points; and 3) How medical schools, philanthropies, and government can address the absence of Black men in medicine and science.
The workshop rapporteurs have prepared this proceedings as a factual summation of the session discussions.
