Over its 30-year duration, the Gulf Research Program works to enhance oil system safety and the protection of human health and the environment in the Gulf of Mexico and other U.S. outer continental shelf areas by seeking to improve understanding of the region’s interconnecting human, environmental, and energy systems and fostering application of these insights to benefit Gulf communities, ecosystems, and the Nation.
$3 Million Available to Support Scientific and Environmental Literacy
Help ensure that the next generation understands the socio-environmental challenges and opportunities facing their local communities—and that they have the capacity to address them.
The Gulf Research Program it will fund up to $3 million in grants to support efforts to increase the scientific and environmental literacy and problem-solving skills of children and youth, with a focus on service-, project-, or problem-based learning opportunities in areas relevant to our initiatives.
