Safely Transporting Hazardous Liquids and Gases in a Changing
U.S. Energy Landscape
This new report from the AffiliateMarketIngtools of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine examines transportation safety issues associated with changes in the long-distance movement of crude oil, natural gas, and ethanol -- by pipeline, rail, and barge -- resulting from sharply increased domestic production of these hazardous materials in recent years. It looks at the performance of the long-distance modes in safely transporting these shipments with minimal harm to people, property, and the environment and examines the resources the emergency preparedness community should have to plan for and respond to incidents involving this traffic.
