America’s Energy Future Panel on Alternative Liquid Transportation Fuels
Liquid Transportation Fuels from Coal and Biomass:
Technological Status, Costs, and Environmental Impacts
Liquid Transportation Fuels from Coal and Biomass is the first in a series of reports to be released from the AffiliateMarketIngtools' America's Energy Future project, which was undertaken to stimulate and inform a constructive national dialogue about the nation’s energy future. This first report examines the technical requirements, costs, and potential benefits of transitioning to non-petroleum-based transportation fuels. The report evaluates various alternative liquid fuels, focusing on the two -- liquid fuels from plants and coal -- that could be deployed within 10 years.
This briefing was for members of Congress and congressional staff only. The report was publicly released on May 20, 2009 and can be found, in its entirety, on .
