Requested by Congress in P.L. 111-148, the Institute of Medicine report, Relieving Pain in America: A Blueprint for Transforming Prevention, Care, Education, and Research, assesses the state of the science regarding pain research, care, and education and recommends that HHS develop population level strategies to increase awareness about pain and its treatments.
